Contra-indications

A contra-indication is a condition or circumstance you have which means it is not suitable to proceed with colon hydrotherapy. If you have a condition listed below, we may not be able treat you at Clear Care Clinic, this is because your safety is of the upmost importance to us. If you are unsure if you are suitable for treatment and want to speak with one of our specialists then please contact us via WhatsApp and we will do our best to assist you.

  • Abdominal Hernia / Hiatus Hernia

  • Active Fissure or fistula

  • All bladder disease

  • Anaemia (104g/L or less)

  • Anal tears

  • Aneurism

  • Any surgery or biopsy to the colon, prostate or rectum,

  • Autonomic dysreflexia (condition of the involuntary nervous system).

  • Abdominal surgery within the last 28 weeks. e.g hysterectomy. (The abdomen is between the bottom of your rib cage and top of your pelvis)

  • Blood thinners which are administered by injection. e.g., warfin, clopidogrel (anti-coagulants) – this list is not exhaustive

  • Blood pressure above 160/100

  • Blood pressure below 100/50

  • Bowel biopsy within the last 6 months

  • Bowel obstruction eg, tumour, adhesions

  • Bowel or rectal prolapse

  • Bowel perforation

  • Carcinoma of the colon or rectum

  • Chemotherapy OR radiotherapy either being currently received, or received within the last 12 months)

  • Cirrhosis or impaired liver function

  • Colitis/ Ulcerative Colitis

  • Colon/ rectal/ bowel cancer

  • Diabetes uncontrolled or unbalanced (If you have diabetes, but it has been stable for a period of six months or longer, you may have treatment. If your diabetes has not been stable during this time period it is unsafe to proceed with treatment.

  • Colorectal surgery (within the last 6 months)

  • C-section less than 6 months ago

  • Crohns

  • Current treatment for cancer OR still under the care of an Oncologist for cancer - examples of this may be radiotherapy, chemotherapy – this is not an exhaustive list.

  • Diverticulitis

  • Eating disorders

  • Epilepsy – NOT well controlled with seizures or episodes within the last 2 years*Please tell us about the type of epilepsy you have, the last time you had a seizure or episode and the names of medication (if any) you take.

  • Fistula

  • Gastro-intestinal haemmorage/perforation/bleed

  • Heart disease OR Heart failure

  • Heart complications of ANY kind, at any time including but not limited to myocardial infarction/heart attack, stents, treatment for AF etc.

  • High blood pressure, not currently controlled with medication.

  • Hip or Knee surgery within the last 6 months

  • Hirschsprung’s disease

  • Inflamed haemorrhoids - this means haemorrhoids (or piles as often referred to) are either painful, or bleeding or both.

  • Inguinal Hernia

  • Intussusception

  • Liver, gall bladder disease

  • Liver OR kidney’s not functioning normally

  • Long term steroid use

  • Neutropenic (medically diagnosed low or no immune system)

  • Paralytic Ileus

  • Persistent Diarrhoea

  • Pregnant OR birthed within 6 months

  • Prostate biopsy within the last 6 months

  • Radiotherapy of abdominal area within the last 2 years.

  • Reduced kidney function (Renal insufficiency)

  • Recent Laparoscopy (less than 12 weeks)

  • Rectal bleeding

  • Renal Insufficiency

  • Severe Cardiac Disease

  • Severe haemorrhoids

  • Severe presistent diarrhoea

  • Tight sphincter - This means it has either been medically diagnosed or you have previously been unable to tolerate the insertion of a speculum to the anus.

  • Ulcerative Colitis
